Home is Where the Heart Is

We've all been there. Crafters like us don't just become crafters overnight. It starts with one little interest in using our hands, our hearts and our heads. It starts as a hobby. Something to do when we're not working. Then it becomes something that is just a bit more than a hobby. We're still working at our "day" job, but rushing home to try to try a new pattern, use that beautiful yarn we just bought, or think of a new pair of earrings from our just purchased wire. You maybe took up pottery as a hoot with a friend of yours, going to night classes. But you really started to enjoy it and became really good at it! This is the beginning of a beautiful business. Or so you thought. Everybody said you should. They all love your products. Everybody says you should start your own business.

BUT...let's face it. You're in LOVE with the process of creating. You LOVE it when a design that is in your head becomes a beautiful product. It's an experience that you LOVE when it happens...BUT it's the business part that you could do without. The accounting, the ordering, marketing and posting on social media! I know...you'd rather be creating!

But you've now discovered this world...your new world of artisan delight and you need to put your heart AND soul into making it work for you. Embrace the WHOLE business model and if you need to, find a partner that likes to do the things you don't! It's a shared passion and it can create a marvelous small business for you both!
