A Creative Life's Journey

From artist to author, Jennie’s path is a vibrant blend of passion and purpose.

Jennie started her love of crafting when she was just a child. She learned to crochet, knit, sew and make all types of textile projects.

Independent and self-sufficient even then, working for herself was always something that she preferred over a large corporate environment. Her first entry into entrepreneurship was at the age of 12 she was crocheting bikini tops when her sister sewed the bottoms!

She started her own interior design business and embarked on her first real attempt at an entrepreneurial artisan business. She also had a basket business and worked as a floral designer.

As she raised her family, Jennie utilized all her crafting talents to foster a cozy and inviting atmosphere for her kids. From making Halloween costumes to sewing decorations for her home, that old Singer sewing machine of hers was always in use. Whether it was crocheting blankets or designing and stitching quilts, creating homemade items held great significance for her. She also established her own interior design business while her children were still young, which allowed her to experience the entrepreneurial spirit of running a real company.

As the children matured, her passion for interior design prompted her to obtain a real estate license and pursue a career as a realtor. She continued to use the old Singer sewing machine but shifted her focus to home repairs and design. She became captivated by tile painting and mosaics, incorporating those skills into her craft and artisan portfolio. To add to her small business experience, she obtained her notary public commission and began a very successful notary loan closing business.

During a discussion with her daughter, a Navy wife, she discovered that numerous military wives were in need of income for their families but couldn't work outside the home due to childcare responsibilities and the challenges of being relocated to a new city where job opportunities were scarce. Many of these military families relied on assistance, and Jennie sought to find a means for them to generate additional income from home, utilizing their crafting and artisan talents to establish a home-based business.

Evenest Shops was the answer to that need, and Jennie has been working very hard to get it launched. Evenest is online shopping site that showcased women crafters, artisan and artist entrepreneurs. During this time period, she also fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming an author. She self-published her first children's book, The Adventures of Jack and Milo.

In trying to market her business, Jennie met Jeanette Jordan, a retired Army woman, and they formed a Friday afternoon talk show on You Tube called Having Fun with J & J. Knowing that they couldn't reach as many crafters as they wanted to, they decided to take it up to a higher level and started The Creative Spirit Channel.

Jennie is currently combining her business acumen with her crafting and artisan skills, and The Creative Spirit Channel is flourishing!
